(Asuncion).- President of the National Games of Chance Commission of Paraguay (Conajzar in Spanish), José Ortíz, pointed that the main aim of the entity on the upcoming months is an update of the law that creates the Commission and adjust it to the new game modalities.

The Law 1.016/97, through which Conajzar is created, does not include many of the current game modalities, so an update of the law will be presented, in order to bring predictability to all possible games of chance, he said in #PyEn15 space.
Ortíz pointed that the bill is expected to be presented on the first half of the current year. A similar project was presented two years ago at the Congress, but it did not have the necessary momentum.
At that moment there was an interaction with similar institutions from other countries, and comparing legislations that regulate the games of chance to include the project to the national law.
The new law also expects to include new forms of regulation of the games of chance, such as online controls and to boost the links with Local Governments to obtain control and information about the fee that the councils should receive.
From that moment, Conajzar tasks will be foreseeable, which will result in more transparency on the performance of the Commission, Ortiz declared.
Conajzar is the entity in charge of regulating all the games of chance and their application. One of its main functions are tenders to operate online games of chance sites.
The commission is formed by a representative of the Ministery of the Interior, a representative from the National Direction of Welfare (DIBEN), from the Local Councils, of the Regional Councils and one of the Ministry of Economy, which heads the presidency.
Every year, Conajzar collects around US$ 20 million in fees, distributed this way: a 30% for welfare programs (DIBEN), a 30% for Local and Regional Governments, and a 10% for The National Treasury Direction.
